It is something we car lovers eventually have to deal with. Our pride and joy is getting old, the kilometers on it starting to tell. We have maintained it well enough to keep it in great shape, but having a bit of a spruce could really do it wonders. While most of us mere humans can easily source replacement and decoration parts for our cars through the internet or from local stores, others do not enjoy such luck. Unbelievable as it sounds, owners of Bugatti Veyrons haven’t had much choice but to cope with aging of their supercars until recently.
The latest Bugatti Veyron model, a vehicle that contributed to the definition of a new generation of supercars, is over a decade old, while the earliest model is already more than 20 years old. Taking into account that the average age of a vehicle on American roads is 12 years old, it becomes obvious that Veyrons qualify as used vehicles. Of course, they are slightly more scarce, considering only 450 units have been produced globally and no more than 110 arrived in the US, but nonetheless, they are old cars that could require certain maintenance services. Moreover, some of them can be classified as used cars bought by people who did not necessarily appreciate the design preferences of the previous owners.
Luckily for both kinds of clients, Bugatti has an offer. As an additional option to the already-existing personalized customization programs named Sur Mesure and Programme Solitaire offered for the manufacture of new automobiles, this unnamed program will give Veyron’s owners an opportunity to remodel their cars visually.

Focus on cosmetic upgrades when there is only one mechanical upgrade available, which is an upgrade of the suspension system to Super Sport specifications, should you have either a 16.4 or a Grand Sport. Despite that restriction, however, the sky is practically the limit. Bugatti will paint or replace any exterior body panel or trim, most interior metal or textile parts except switchgear and instrument panels, wheels, and even some engine components.
It should be noted that the list of parts that can be repainted or replaced is quite extensive, and contains 31 preselected paint colors for the car’s exterior, nine body panels made from exposed carbon fiber (in nine paint colors), two body panels made from aluminum, plus 34 preselected leather interior colors, nine Alcantara interior colors, nine exposed carbon fiber interior trims, six anodized metal interior trims, and 35 different contrast colors for sewing seams.
Additional options offered by the company include replacement of the dedication plaque in the front storage compartment (most requested by secondary owners), owner’s manual (three languages), paint protection film, a fire extinguisher, and the Passeport Tranquilite maintenance contract, if not yet purchased.

Bugatti will never modify your regular Veyron into something that looks like a Super Sport or Grand Sport Vitesse. If that’s what you need, then you’re going to need to buy one. The company also has the option of rejecting any request if they determine that fulfilling it would be physically impossible.
However, people who own old cars will benefit from an additional upgrade when they go for the wheels. It was the case before that one needed to change the wheels when changing the tires in their Veyron, but due to the advancement in tire and wheel technology, it is not longer necessary. If you upgrade to new wheels, you don’t need to throw them away with your tires.
As expected, this is another “if you have to ask” sort of thing. Bugatti won’t release pricing details about these customizations, largely because each car built would require its own unique price quote since there are so many variations available. It wouldn’t be surprising if some owners chose only to alter the appearance of their gear shift levers while others went all-out and completely redid their cars from bumper to bumper. With such variability in the options selected, there’s really no way to give an estimate for a typical build price.
The process will be somewhat customized depending upon the exact customer request made. Most customization would be handled by the local dealerships and local mechanics since that’s normally how service is performed on the cars in question anyway. Certain changes, like replacing exterior body panels rather than repainting them, may necessitate sending the entire vehicle back to the manufacturer’s factory.
However, before all of this occurs, you first need to select your options. For this overwhelming task, the Bugatti company has created the configurator, which unfortunately can be used only by its owners and certain media representatives. You will find the software at your local Bugatti store where one of their representatives will guide you through the entire process of making your own dream build.
As you can clearly see in our dream build (see gallery for details), the people behind Bugattis don’t seem to mind what you come up with when using their configurator. To be honest, it must be said that during our visit the software was still undergoing its beta test phase and failed while we were trying it out, preventing us from creating some ugly designs. However, let us pretend that we wanted to go for the Harlequin design but ran out of time.
