2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Debuts With More Luxury and Tech
The all-new 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has officially been revealed, and while it may not appear to have changed much at a casual glance, it’s clear that the changes are intended to further enhance the exclusivity of the ultra-luxury car. Based on the heavily updated platform for the 2027 S-Class, the new Maybach version inherits the flagship sedan’s significant changes under the skin while also introducing some unique touches in design, comfort, and luxury. According to MotorTrend, Mercedes claims that the updated S-Class lineup has over 2,700 updated or replaced parts, and the Maybach gets everything.
As for the looks, the emphasis here isn’t so much on innovation as on presence. Up front, the changes include a new illuminated grille surround, as well as a backlight for the Maybach script on the top of the grille. There’s also the option for an illuminated Mercedes hood ornament, as well as the ability for the Maybach emblems on the C-pillars to be illuminated as well. New taillights, new wheel designs, and increased exterior lighting help make the large sedan a real showpiece, especially at night. Perhaps the most dramatic detail, though, is the option for self-righting Mercedes star center caps on the polished wheels

As for what lies within, Mercedes has been faithful to its Maybach strategy: rear-seat opulence is the priority. The interior now features the Superscreen package as standard, where the infotainment and front passenger screens are integrated under one piece of glass. Mercedes has also relocated the wireless charging pads for easier use and included active cooling with contrast stitching on leather. It has added rose gold highlights to the graphics, trim pieces, and lighting to help set the S-Class Maybach apart from its S-Class counterpart.
However, the rear cabin is still the main attraction. The Executive Rear Seat option returns with improvements to the center console, cooled wireless charging capabilities, rear entertainment system controls, and fold-out tray tables. Mercedes claims the rear screens can even handle video calling. The silver-plated champagne flutes remain part of the rear passenger experience as well. With a 7.1-inch longer wheelbase than the standard S-Class, much of this extra space is allocated to the rear passenger compartment, where Maybach buyers expect it.

Under the hood, the 2027 Maybach S-Class is a traditional large-engine luxury car, with no six-cylinder or plug-in hybrid models available. The entry-level model is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist, delivering 530 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, while the range-topping model carries over the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 with 621 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent through a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system. Mercedes also equips the sedan with a standard air suspension system, as well as a new generation of adaptive damping that allows for proactive road surface preparation based on data from connected cars
