2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport X Brings 721 HP and AWD Hybrid Power
The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport X is looking like it might be the Corvette that many of its fans have been waiting for: powerful, aggressive, yet slightly more attainable than those extreme high-end variants. Chevrolet is continuing to expand its Corvette lineup once again, and this time it’s all about two new variants: the Grand Sport and the all-new Grand Sport X.
What is particularly exciting about this new Grand Sport X is that it is not just an appearance package or an incremental improvement. Instead, it represents a significant mechanical step forward. Under the hood is Chevrolet’s new 6.7-liter naturally aspirated LS6 V-8 making 535 horsepower. While that is certainly enough to generate interest, the Grand Sport X goes even further in terms of drama by fitting it with a front-mounted electric motor and 1.9 kWh battery pack to give it all-wheel-drive hybrid power. This gives it an astonishing 721 horsepower, which is frankly more than enough to give it supercar credentials.
The regular Grand Sport takes a slightly more traditional route, and honestly, this may be exactly why many will end up loving this car. The same new LS6 V-8 is used, and it is mated to the wide-body look and performance features inspired by the Z06. This way, you’re getting a car that is supposed to be more agile and better handling than the standard Stingray without having to go into the more expensive territory of the more exotic versions of the Corvette. It sounds like Chevrolet is trying to recapture the magic that made previous Grand Sport versions so well regarded among enthusiasts.

Chevy has also included numerous performance-related features. Both cars will have MagneRide dampers, an electronic differential, and a dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox. The Grand Sport will have numerous chassis options, including touring, sport, and track. It will also have some serious tire and braking options. This will include Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Cup 2 R tires. It will also have optional carbon-ceramic brakes. The Grand Sport X will have carbon-ceramic brakes as standard due to its additional power.
From a design perspective, these new Corvettes are faithful to the C8 but add just the right amount of visual aggression to them. Wide fenders, performance-oriented aero components, and signature elements of the Grand Sport all serve to set them apart without going overboard. Chevrolet is offering them in coupe and convertible guise too, making them more appealing to buyers.
