The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray shows that the company is not forgetting the base Corvette. In fact, this may well be one of the most significant changes the C8 Corvette has received since its release. While the mid-engine design has already given the Corvette a significant jump in terms of performance and marketability, the company has taken it one step further with the release of the new 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 engine in the Corvette Stingray.
The largest story here, of course, is the engine. The old 6.2-liter LT2 V-8 has given way to this new generation of the venerable LS6 small-block V-8, and the numbers are difficult to dispute. Chevrolet claims the 2027 Stingray makes 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, and that’s up considerably over the previous car. The increase in performance comes thanks to the engine’s increased displacement and several other changes, including a longer stroke, higher compression, and a new intake system. In other words, this is not just a minor update – this is a genuine performance upgrade

One of the smartest changes is the way Chevrolet has updated the engine without sacrificing the old Corvette experience. The new engine has direct and port injection, and this should make the engine cleaner and prevent carbon buildup in the engine. This is not exactly the kind of thing that gets car enthusiasts excited, but this is the kind of change that makes a sports car easier to own in the long run.
Significant upgrades for the Z51 performance package have been made for 2027. Chevrolet has fitted its car with a shorter final drive ratio of 5.56:1 instead of the previous 5.17:1 ratio. This is intended to improve how quick and sensitive the car is to acceleration. The Z51 is also fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport S5 tires and other upgrades to improve grip and high-speed stability. So, if you are the type of driver who likes to have a Corvette that is better on back roads and on track days, then the Z51 is worth keeping an eye on
In terms of looks, the new 2027 Stingray retains its C8 configuration, and honestly, this isn’t a bad thing. The looks are still dramatic, low, and exotic enough to get attention. Chevrolet should be commended for instead focusing on what really matters: what’s under the hood. The new Stingray will be available as both a coupe and a retractable hardtop convertible. This gives buyers some leeway depending on their desired use.

The new Stingray should start at around $75,000. According to MotorTrend, the new Stingray should be available this fall, 2026. If this holds true, the new 2027 Corvette Stingray may once again offer one of the best bangs for your buck out there. While it may be the entry-level Corvette, this new Stingray with its new LS6 engine no longer sounds like an entry-level engine
