- The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is part of the sixth generation of the model, which includes many new features.
- The improved infotainment system in the new compact SUV is far better than before, featuring an easier interface and intelligent innovations.
- In addition, the newest range of assistance offered by Toyota offers even more benefits; for example, the new RAV4 is capable of lane changes and real-time object detection
The automaker did not waste any time while designing the most recent version of the RAV4, which is quite understandable because the best-selling SUV in the US is the cash cow for Toyota. The current sixth-generation of the Toyota RAV4 is offered only with hybrid powertrains and its versatile lineup boasts more options than those available at a Baskin-Robbins. Although we’ve already driven the car in a Limited trim, recently we managed to get behind the wheel of a RAV4 that has just gotten a brand-new infotainment system.
The 10.5-inch display has been included as standard across all RAV4s, while the Limited, XSE, and GR Sport get a 12.9-inch version of the same display. Though both displays run the exact same system, we got to try out the latter, and we must say that its graphics are impressive – not to mention the customization options that are similar to arranging tiles on your smartphone’s home screen. Paring this touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is incredibly simple – just like changing the configuration of your widgets. If you still require guidance, there’s a “Tips” section to guide you through it all. While it’s unfortunate that Toyota hasn’t kept the previous model’s tuning dial, we do thank them for including the volume dial.

In addition to the now available Spotify application, the car now comes with cloud-based navigation services. But here is an interesting thing: the driver can now view all maps and turn-by-turn directions on the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The new-generation entertainment system also comes with AT&T 5G connectivity and improved voice command functionality. Tell the car you feel like having a cup of coffee or that you need to eat, and it will guide you to the best spot for your cravings. The entertainment system can update you on current traffic and weather conditions; however, once your free one-year subscription expires, you will need to pay about $15 per month.
Not surprisingly, Toyota chose to unveil its new range of driver-assist technologies on the revamped RAV4. The new Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 comes with several new capabilities, many of which are now capable of functioning in more situations than before. The front collision alert system, for example, now detects pedestrians and motorbikes and can react sooner than previously possible.

In addition to the improved road sign detection and object recognition capabilities in real-time, the new adaptive cruise control system in the RAV4 takes into consideration draft possibilities when the SUV operates in the Eco drive mode. Moreover, the lane-keep assist system also features a lane change function if the turn signal is engaged. In order to improve the usability of these driver assist systems, the company decided to move the menu to the central screen. Finally, all models of the vehicle are provided with a dash cam that records footage using the vehicle’s exterior cameras. It is possible to record videos in both automatic and manual mode and view them either on the main screen or export them using a USB flash drive.
