2027 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Gets a Camper-Friendly Tourer Trim

The Volkswagen Bus has always had an appeal unmatched by many cars in the past. The rear engine design and spacious cabin have enabled it to be a popular vehicle among surfers, campers, and travelers. Today, the 2027 Volkswagen ID Buzz is looking back on its legacy with the launch of the Tourer version, which draws some inspiration from its European counterpart.

ID Buzz Tourer is the major attraction among models for 2027 year (the photo of the 2025 year model is placed below). Following the example of the European market “Good Night Package,” there will be a foldout mattress, window blinds, ventilation panels, outdoor chairs, a table, and Overnight Mode aimed at making it comfortable for sleeping in the car. Other additions to the list include a folding tow hitch, captain seats, an electrochromic roof, and dark graphite 20-inch wheels with black trimming.

According to Volkswagen, the mattress is big enough to accommodate two adults, while because of the Buzz’s high-roof design, the interior should remain spacious enough even when converted into a sleeping area. Furthermore, window blinds have blackout functions to cover the side windows and windshields, providing additional privacy when sleeping. Volkswagen offers pillows and bedding as well for a comfortable experience.

The Volkswagen ID Buzz range is also not immune from changes in 2027. This year’s edition includes only four versions: Pro S RWD, Pro S 4Motion, Tourer 4Motion, and Pro S Plus 4Motion. Two last mentioned versions are entirely new to the range, and even more importantly, the company has decided to offer its customers more options for all-wheel-drive vehicles – the thing that wasn’t available before.

As we have always criticized Volkswagen for its infotainment systems, it seems that the 2027 ID Buzz comes with an improved version called ID.S 6, according to Volkswagen’s claims. As we already observed some upgrades in the latest Golf GTI and Golf R range with new infotainment systems, the new ID Buzz has some chances to receive positive feedback as well. Another interesting update concerns In-Vehicle Premium service for one year. This way, owners will be able to use the app store, which means that apps like YouTube and Spotify will become available in the car.

The German automaker chose not to launch any new models in the United States in the 2026 model year. Even considering the long wait North American buyers experienced for the ID Buzz, skipping a year would be an unexpected move from Volkswagen amid a slowdown in the EV market. Regardless, it is good news that the Buzz will make its comeback with some flair. The 2027 model will come with a North American Charging System adapter to easily charge on the Tesla Supercharger network, something the 2025 model lacked.

Volkswagen will also reduce its color offerings for the 2027 model. Gone are the solid hues, and in their place will be only two-tone options. The most recent offering is the Candy White with Cherry Red finish, which appears to have been inspired by the iconic Volkswagen Bus.

Although official prices have not yet been disclosed, you should not anticipate any significant alterations to base price from the already high sticker price of over $60,000 in spite of the massive discounts offered currently on 2025 model vehicles. Look out for the arrival of the 2027 Volkswagen ID Buzz from August until year-end.
