2026 Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP First Ride – Pure Hooligan Machine!

The Hypermotard V2 SP of 2026 represents a substantial improvement for the supermoto-like series by Ducati. Famous for its wild and wheelie-prone character, the Hypermotard has always been focused on providing ultimate riding pleasure to users. However, in terms of design of the new model, the company seems to have followed a somewhat different course – retaining the spirit while increasing accuracy and accessibility.

Starting with the engine, one should mention that the Hypermotard is now equipped with an entirely new 890cc 90-degree V-twin. According to the official specification sheet, this unit develops some 120 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. In addition to being the strongest engine of all Hypermotards developed so far, it provides rather wide range of torque delivery that starts from quite low revolutions.

Among the improvements, it is worth mentioning weight loss achieved through reengineering of the chassis and the engine. The already mentioned V2 SP variant becomes even lighter by means of using forged wheels and a lithium battery. Needless to say, such weight loss has a positive effect on the vehicle’s performance.

There has been a complete redesign of the chassis as well. The Ducati now comes with a monocoque aluminum chassis in which the engine serves as the stressed element. As a result, there is a reduction in the size of the unit along with an increase in its rigidity. Cornering becomes much easier and the stability of the motorcycle gets a boost.

It is with the help of the suspension system that the SP model manages to establish its dominance over the rest of the pack. There are fully adjustable Öhlins suspension systems on the motorcycle – one at each end. The performance fork at the front and the rear monoshock make it very stable and easy to maneuver, especially at high speeds.

The braking capabilities of the motorcycle are also exceptional. The motorcycle features Brembo M50 calipers with dual 320 mm front discs, providing efficient and progressive braking performance. The braking system provides superb feedback at the lever, enabling riders to manage their braking with ease both on the road and race track.

Electronics make the motorcycle more user-friendly as well. The motorcycle has been fitted with an advanced electronics system featuring numerous settings such as riding modes, traction control, wheelie control, and cornering ABS. All the electronic components are controlled using a modern 5-inch TFT display screen, providing useful information for riders.

In terms of on-road and track performance, the key difference with the V2 SP is its attitude. Despite the previous Hypermotards’ reputation as being wild machines, the newer version provides a much more sophisticated feeling and becomes easier to ride. It still possesses all that power and playfulness, yet it brings much better control and balance. In this way, it will appeal to many new customers who will be able to enjoy riding the V2 without giving up any entertainment.

The ergonomics are still close to those of the original supermoto bike, which means that the seat height of nearly 880 mm creates an upright sitting position providing great visibility. The narrow design of the V2 together with wide handlebars makes it easy to steer.

At the same time, some riders may find that the new version is not as wild as before. It lacks some of the aggressiveness that distinguished the previous versions.
