The next generation KTM Freeride E becomes ready to make a splash in 2027 as it comes out as an all-around 50-state legal machine on the new electric off-road platform. The Freeride E is accompanied by many other upgrades, such as increased performance, improved chassis, and added range.
In 2027, the model features a revised drivetrain with maximum output of 19.2 kW (25.7 hp) and torque of 37.6 Nm (27.7 ft-lbs), regulated by three driving modes and three energy recovery settings for optimizing efficiency across varied terrain. The additional safety feature of a rollover detector, together with customizable traction control, completes the upgraded electronic suite, clearly displayed via LED signals.

The Austrian company states that their MX50 Lithium-Ion battery pack now features 5.5 kWh. Although the typical usage time remains within the 2-3 hours Enduro category, improved regeneration parameters should allow extending the duration of usage up to 20%. According to the manufacturer, the pack can provide its optimal performance for more than 1,000 charge-discharge cycles before falling to 80% efficiency level. Swappable batteries are still a distinctive feature of the KTM Freeride E, although depending on the chosen charging station, this operation requires either 8 hours (using the 660 W charger) or 1.5 hours (with 3.3 kW optional power source). It takes less than 10 minutes to remove the battery.
Apart from changes to the energy system, KTM Freeride E 2027 receives several chassis modifications. The model gets lighter, weighing 246.9 lb (112 kg), but the structure of the motorcycle has not changed – it still includes a chrome-molybdenum steel frame and an aluminum/glass-fiber-reinforced nylon subframe. The seat height amounts to 35.8 inches, and the newest WP XACT 43 mm fork along with the XPLOR PDS rear shock absorber, along with 21/18-inch aluminum rims, provide excellent handling characteristics when off-road.
